PCS Portal Launch

Faculty - RCSI PCS Portal Launch

The Faculty of Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists oversees registration and compliance with the Irish Medical Council’s Professional Competence Scheme.

From May 2025, the Medical Council will introduce a new Maintenance of Professional Competence Framework with new criteria for every doctor to comply with. In anticipation of the introduction of the new PCS framework, the Faculty of Radiologists and Radiation Oncologist’s have partnered with RCSI to develop and use a new Faculty/RCSI PCS portal. The current medhub PCS portal does not have the required functionality for the new competence framework.

The new portal has been developed with RCSI’s IT Department and has been tested extensively from May 2022 to ensure a user friendly, positive experience for the Faculty’s PCS users. The Faculty/RCSI PCS portal offer’s an effortless upload operation of CME/CPD, submission of your annual PDP/Annual plan, downloadable participation statement, outlining your compliance over the course of six years and access to both renew and pay your Members/Fellows and PCS subscription with a repository for all receipts of payment which are downloadable for the user.

Please note: Your data will not be migrated to the new PCS portal, and we advise all users to download their participation statements for the previous five years from MedHub as the Faculty will not be responsible to retain this data.

As part of the newly introduced criteria, a mandatory submission of a PDP (Professional Development Plan) will be required at the beginning of each PCS year.  Your plan will allow you to check that you are addressing all relevant areas within your scope of practice.

There are three steps involved in submitting your PDP.

  • Step 1: Identify your goals for the year.
  • Step 2: Select activities and match them to the relevant categories within the PDP section on the portal.
  • Step 3: Reflect on your PDP at the end of the of the PCS year and appoint a colleague/supervisor/mentor to sign off.

Completion of your PDP can be logged as 5 CPD/CME.

Payment via the RCSI Portal

Once logged in, the portal will notify you of your outstanding subscriptions. Fellow/Member and PCS payments will now be processed via the RCSI portal. This will allow you to process your Fellow/Member and PCS subscription fee at the beginning of May every year. The Faculty will provide a guidance document on how to navigate the PCS portal, in the coming weeks.

Please note: Your data will not be migrated to the new PCS portal, and we advise all users to download their participation statements for the previous five years from MedHub as the Faculty will not be responsible to retain this data.

PCS and Annual Subscription Fee

Mandatory from May 1st 2025

In anticipation of the introduction of the new PCS framework, the Faculty Board and Finance Committee have partnered together and with careful consideration, have made the decision to increase both the PCS and Fellows/Members fee, from May 2025 onward.

The PCS, Fellows and Members fee has remained consistent since 2011. In anticipation of the new Framework, we do hope you understand that the Faculty will undertake a new category of regulations to comply with, which will significantly increase admin workload and demand for Faculty staff. It is our intention, as always, to contribute additional funding to Faculty lead meetings, to use feedback provided by our Fellows, Members and PCS users, to improve the standard of education.

Please see below updated subscription fees, mandatory from May 2025:

  • Fellows/Members and PCS Subscription: €700 (Discounted rate until 30th June 2025)
  • Fellows/Members and PCS Subscription: €950 (Applied to renewals after 30th June 2025)
  • PCS Subscription: €500

Please note: If you do not renew your Fellows/Members and PCS Subscription by 30th June 2025, the discounted fee will no longer be in effect and the full fee of €950 will apply.

Payment via the RCSI Portal

Once logged in, the portal will notify you of your outstanding subscriptions. Fellow/Member and PCS payments will now be processed via the RCSI portal. This will allow you to process your Fellow/Member and PCS subscription fee at the beginning of May every year.

Important: Your data will not be migrated to the new PCS portal, and we advise all users to download their participation statements for the previous five years from MedHub as the Faculty will not be responsible to retain this data.
